Who of the current squad do you expect/hope to see more next season?
With the silly season in full flow, it might be worth taking a look at some of the current squad who may feature a bit more next season who might be promoted from youth/reserve teams or returning from injury?

Ben Johnson
Surprise me and a few others when he started in a tough away trip at Man City in the second half of the season but considering his age and experience he seemed to acquit himself quite well. Interesting to see if he is loaned out or kept in the squad?

Ryan Fredericks
Shaky start for this one and then the predictably injury curse, but ended the season looking strong and with a goal. Expect he might go into the season as first choice RB with Zabaleta now getting on a bit so if he can continue to improve then I think we'll see allot more of him next season.

Carlos Sanchez
Ruled out for the season by serious injury so didn't see much of him at all last season, not enough to make a real judgement but his age (and the fact that we appear to be on the lookout for another defensive midfielder) suggests we won't see too much more of him next season if he is even around?

Jack Wilshere
No surprise that he suffered a serious injury so soon into his West Ham career, you couldn't make it up! To me he looked poor before he got injured and actually looked a much better player coming off the bench for a few minutes here and there at the end of this season. To injury prone for me to be considered a regular starter but might be handy to have around the squad seeing as he's contracted for another couple of years.

Josh Cullen

Successful loan spell at Charlton helping them get promoted through the play-offs. Haven't seen much of how he got on and what the clubs plans are for him but I'd expect to see him in pre-season. Might struggle to get anywhere near the team if we sign another midfielder seeing as we already have Wilshere, Noble, Rice, Sanchez and sometimes Snodgrass deployed centrally.

Andriy Yarmolenko
Clearly got some ability and started making an impact before a serious injury ruled him out for the season. I hope and expect to see him feature more heavily next season and hope his injury doesn't leave any lasting damage. Should be back for pre-season and looking forward to him complimenting the attacking options in our squad.

Xande Silva
I believe he also suffered an injury last season but is back and should feature in pre-season? Others might be able to clarify. Lots have showed promise in our U21s and have been unable to make the step-up such as Toni Martinez, so hard to get your hopes up but depending on what our striker options look like next season maybe he'll get a look in?

Grady Diangana
Solid first season for him I think. Showed some real promise in my opinion and wasn't scared to take people on. Still a bit raw but I do think he has shown enough to warrant a place in the squad for next season giving him an opportunity to gain more experience and to improve.

Nathan Holland
From what I remember he looked like he was ready to break into the team before injury struck and Diangana got his break instead? Seeing how Diangana has nicely slotted into the team, hopefully Holland is also ready and waiting for his chance. Only problem for both these players is that we'd probably need an injury to a key player or two for them to get a prolonged run out.

Any others I am missing?

I must have been referring to Reids previous long term contract and not the one he signed last summer.

So he'll be 34 when his contract expires?

Seems a really odd decisions seeing as we signed Balbuena and Diop last year and also had Rice and Ogbonna.

He has been a good servant but wouldn't be too disappointed if we were able to shift him.

I would like to see more of Silva, Yarmolenko and Diangana, especially Silva

Also Lanzini, needs to get back to where he was and kick on there. Before his injury I thought he was still improving, so I want him back there and improving from there.

I guess no one will agree with me, but I also want to see more of Masuaku. I really like him going forward and his defending can improve, seeing more of him should mean is has improved all round. I think he can.

Being Austrian. The size of his knob. His ugly face. His gambling debts. Who knows? Best person to ask would be Arnie, but he'd probably just wave his arms in the air like a fucking teenager.

Geep

what do you think Arnie is sulking about?

Ben Johnson seemed to just take it in his stride, and on the opposite side too. Would rather see him given his chance as we did with Rice, especially as he doesn't strike me as a billy big bollocks.

Yarma should be good but think he'll need a good run to build up slowly.

What about youth going up a level or being loaned out, what are the views of those who watch them regularly?

Yarmo - class act.

Also Wilshire if he can keep fit for a decent while.

I'm afraid Reid has FOUR years left on his contract.

Diangana seems to have lost a lot of confidence for no apparent reason.

I'd like to see him back, with it back.

Wilshere did look better in his late cameos than earlier in the season, when he seemed to be lacking mental sharpness as well as being physically slow

In form Antonio would be good to see, out of form Antonio isn't great.

Ditto Arnautovic, but I suspect he's sulking rather than honestly struggling with form

I'd like to see more of Carlos Sanchez, preferably on the news having been lifted by the old bill for impersonating a footballer.

Absolute fucking clogger.

Fredericks definitely- looked like we have the makings of an excellent full back there, with some work and improvement.

Really looking forward to see if he can push on to another level.

Forgot about Winston Reid!

Is he even recovered from whatever injury problems he was facing?

He turns 31 in July and has 2 years left on his contract. Could be one to cash in on as he hasn't looked the same after his recent spout of injuries.

Winston Reid?

Not sure he gets anywhere near the side, especially if we're looking at buying Maripan.

Re: Who of the current squad do you expect/hope to see more next season?
Silva, I hope he gets a few more chances now Perez has gone

I think young Ben needs to go out on loan to a club that will use him regularly and he'll then be ready next season to compete with Fredericks once Zaba retires
